Wood Nymph Portraits • Magical Annapolis Editorial Photography

One hot, sweltering June day Jessica and I traipsed through the woods to our secret location (especially secret because we almost got lost on the way). We'd been dreaming of an ethereal wood nymph inspired shoot for months and had spent our morning securing our wardrobe for a highly expensive $3.50 (thank you to the Goodwill of Glen Burnie!).

To a soundtrack of Iron & Wine, we blazed a trail through overgrown brush - and awesomely did NOT get eaten by any snakes.  Here are the dreamy, magical results.

Magical Snow Portraits | Annapolis Maryland Photographer

I met Ashley Maynard (of Ashley Maynard Photography) through on online photography group post that invited photographers to connect with their local peers for a fun creative mashup!  So, thanks to Winter Storm Jonas, we got to play dress up in 2 feet of snow at Quiet Waters Park - like the true grown ups that we, of course, totally are.

I love when networking leads to making new friends!

Historic Annapolis Portraits | Joanna Tillman's Headshots

Last November I had the opportunity to create a series of personal branding portraits and headshots for another local Photographer and friend, Joanna Tillman!  Where better than Historic Annapolis to compliment Joanna's love for vintage aesthetics and her artistic personality?

Joanna cares a great deal about what she does and is serious about her clients' portraits, but also has a delightful sense of humor and a joyful "spark" that shines through in her work.  I hope I've been able to capture a bit of her unique spirit in these images!

Annapolis Portrait Photographer | Erin's Sweet 16 Photoshoot

I've known Erin since she was 7 years old, so I was thrilled to be taking portraits to commemorate her sixteenth birthday this past October.  She's gone from telling hour-long stories about leaves to driving - look out, Severna Park!  I'm so proud of the young woman she's becoming and honored to document it.

We really lucked out with the perfect fall day at Quiet Waters Park!  The leaves were in full color and matched Erin's trendy over sized scarf perfectly.

Annapolis Waterfront Photoshoot • The Behringer Family

Last week, I had a fabulous family session at Jonas Green Park with the Behringer Family - Sol, Kevin, and little Jameson!  Jameson is 18 months old and quite the wiggle worm!  He was happiest when "escaping" from the shoot, so I happily worked with his silliness and got some of my favorite shots by indulging his toddler antics.

At the end of the shoot, we had a beautiful sunset!  I loved how this little family looked silhouetted against the sky.

Natasha's Songwriter Portraits • Downs Park, Maryland

I saw Natasha (Baby T to her friends) in a crowded movie theater this summer with a gaggle of her students and her style & personality just popped out of the background.  I stared in awe at her amazingly intricate, colorful hair and thought, "I think I need to photograph this girl...".  Then she turned around to laugh at a student's joke and I knew that I HAD to take her portraits!

To my delight, it turned out Natasha was about to embark on an exciting songwriting tour of America and was in need of headshots.  "You gotta do this, Miss T!"  Her students urged - so we had a wonderfully creative (if stickily hot) shoot at Downs Park in Pasadena, Maryland.

Check out her website, I Define Happy (The Songwriting Tour) to learn more about this awesome young woman!

Spring Blooms | Maryland Nature Photography

This Mother's Day, I went photo-tripping with my mother back to the Howard County Conservancy to revel in their new spring plantings.  I was delighted by all the wildflowers and unexpected splashes of bright color, like my new favorite "Dicentra" (also known as Bleeding Heart)!  I even loved the so-called weeds that the gardeners allow to flourish where they won't disrupt the other plants.  Dandelion fluff is so ethereal and lovely!

I'll be sure to come back later this summer to check out their ever changing blooms.  There's always something new and beautiful!
